Old Ferry House

This unique and historic old inn stands at the mouth of picturesque Loch Don; a quiet corner of Mull blessed with a rich variety of flora and fauna. Wherever you stand there are breathtaking views of seas, shorelines and mountains, including Ben Nevis in the distance and not so far away otters
amongst the rocks and eagles overhead. Surrounded by - and part of - the Auchnacraig Estate, farmed by the family for generations, our house and cottage are available to book as your base for a holiday on the extraordinarily varied Isle of Mull, although many of our friends and guests just stay put!

  Old Ferry House

In centuries past (as the Ferry Inn), Old Ferry House was at the end of the drove road for the cattle from Mull and the outer isles making their way across to the mainland. Boswell and Johnson left from here, and Keats landed here, on their famous tours. The old stone quay remains close by and is now the perfect place to launch a kayak or just take in the view.

Inside, you will find a warm and welcoming home, with family artwork adorning the walls, traditional furnishings and log burners throughout providing the focal points for cosy evenings. Almost every window has a wonderful view, and there is a family-sized beach just a stone’s throw away. In essence, something for all ages.

The remaining weeks of 2023 at the Old Ferry House are £1450 per week.  The 2024 weekly rates start from £1450 to £2150 (Christmas/New Year weeks £2750).

Archie's Cottage

Away from the house and over on the rocks sits this truly charming self-contained highland cottage on the edge of the sea, with the most amazing views across to Ben Nevis and the mountains of Argyll. It still retains many of the original features of a Bothy, with an open-plan bedroom and living space , complete with its own log burner , a small galley kitchen and bathroom. It accommodates 2.

The cottage can be rented separately or together with Old Ferry House, as it is approximately 80m from the house and is perfect for accommodating overflow- our friends often use it for Grandparents or visiting family.

The remaining weeks of 2023 in Archie's Cottage are £710 per week.  The 2024 weekly rates start from £710 to £925 (Christmas/New Year weeks £1000).
